If you are reporting a problem, please open Settings, tap Diagnostics, then Copy diagnostics, and paste the result into your email. It contains app version, device model, and recent error codes, and none of your conversation text. It makes most issues far quicker to identify.

Edge runs its AI on your device rather than on a server, so the model has to be downloaded once, on first launch. It is roughly 200 MB, so use Wi-Fi and a stable connection if you can.

You can tap Skip for now and continue later. The download resumes from the banner on the chat screen. Until it finishes, chat is unavailable, since there is nothing running locally yet to answer you.

Yes, completely, once the model has finished downloading. Responses are generated on your device. You can put the phone in airplane mode and keep using it, which is also the simplest way to confirm for yourself that nothing is being sent anywhere.

The first time you tap the microphone, Edge downloads a smaller speech model of roughly 31 MB and asks for microphone and speech recognition permission. Transcription then runs on your device.

If you previously declined the permission, you can grant it in the iOS Settings app under Edge.

Everything is stored in encrypted local storage on your device. There is no account and no cloud backup.

This has one important consequence: deleting the app permanently deletes your conversations and journal entries, and we cannot recover them. There is no copy on a server for us to restore from.

So export before you uninstall or move to a new device. Open Settings, then Export all my data. Edge writes a single JSON file containing your conversations, journal entries, memories and reminders, and hands it to the iOS share sheet so you can save it to Files, iCloud Drive, or email it to yourself. The file is written on your device and goes wherever you send it, and nowhere else.

Edge can lock behind Face ID or your device passcode. If biometrics are unavailable or fail, the OS offers the passcode as a fallback, so turning Face ID off does not bypass the lock.

If your device has neither biometrics nor a passcode configured, the lock cannot be enforced and Edge will let you in rather than stranding you outside your own data.

Spaces keep separate conversation contexts apart, for example work and personal. Memory carries useful details between conversations, and you can inspect, edit, or erase it at any time from Settings.

Edge collects no personal data and has no analytics. The full detail is in the Privacy Policy.
